Getting Started with CGM

Getting Started with Continuous Glucose Monitoring

A continuous glucose monitor (CGM) can help you view glucose readings and trends throughout the day and night. This guide provides general product information to help you get started with CGM products sold by CGM AU.

Before you begin

Read the instructions supplied with your specific CGM system before use. Follow the manufacturer’s directions for sensor placement, application, pairing, warm-up and replacement. Product features and wear times vary between CGM systems.

Set up your CGM

  1. Check that the product packaging is intact and confirm the expiry date.
  2. Download or prepare the compatible app or reader specified for your CGM.
  3. Wash and dry your hands and prepare the application site according to the product instructions.
  4. Apply and activate the sensor exactly as directed by the manufacturer.
  5. Allow any required start-up or warm-up period to complete before relying on displayed readings.

Everyday use

Keep your compatible phone or reader within the recommended range, review alerts and trend information, and replace the sensor according to the product instructions. If a reading does not match how you feel, follow the manufacturer’s guidance and seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional where needed.
