NDSS & CGM Subsidy
Information about accessing subsidised continuous glucose monitoring products in Australia through the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS).
Who can access subsidised CGM?
You must be registered with the NDSS to access subsidised CGM products. All people with type 1 diabetes can apply, and some people under 21 with eligible conditions similar to type 1 diabetes who require insulin may also qualify. Depending on eligibility, products may be fully subsidised or require a co-payment.
How to apply
- Register with the NDSS if you are not already registered.
- See an authorised diabetes health professional to assess eligibility and discuss an appropriate CGM system.
- Complete and submit the relevant Continuous Glucose Monitoring Access Form.
- Once approved, eligible supplies can be ordered through an NDSS Access Point, usually a community pharmacy.
Choosing a CGM
Not every CGM system is suitable for every person. Product selection should be made with your diabetes health professional, taking into account indications for use, compatibility and your individual circumstances.
